Greatest
Dad Contest Winners Announced More
and more people are starting to realize the impact a good
father can have on a child. In June 2004, the Colom Foundation,
Alpha Phi Alpha Service Fraternity and Cumulus Broadcasting
joined forces to sponsor the World’s Greatest Dad
Contest, a way for children to voice their appreciation
for the significance of their fathers to their lives.
The
three contest winners were honored at a special recognition
ceremony at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 13,
at Cumulus Broadcasting
in Court Square Towers, Columbus, Miss.
“
More and more people are starting to realize the impact
a good father can have on a child,” said Wilbur O.
Colom, President of the Colom Foundation. “We wanted
to give voice to the deep appreciation people of all ages
feel towards their fathers.”
The
winners of the Greatest Dad contest were: Mr. Percy Brooks
of Macon, nominated by his daughter, Mrs. Lillian
Townsend; Mr. Early Bynum of Houston, Mississippi,
nominated by his daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Bynum Holmes;
and Rev.
William Andrew Headd of Starkville, nominated by
his son, Mr. Andrew Headd.
They
received awards of recognition at a ceremony at Cumulus
Broadcasting, Court Square Towers. |
